During this phase of the project, policies and procedures should be generated to outline how the surgery center will operate on a day-to-day basis. There is no need to write these yourself - leverage a consultant to obtain standard manuals and work with your clinical team to adapt them to your center. Policies and procedures ensure your facility complies with all relevant regulations and can provide a high level of patient care while operating efficiently. A staff training plan will need to be developed for educating future hires on this content.
Key considerations
Life safety plan: a key component of the center’s policies and procedures and ensures adequate preparedness for emergencies by establishing a coordinated response to potential disasters, increasing patient safety.
Pharmacy plan: a framework that outlines how medications will be procured, stored, distributed and disposed of to ensure safe and compliant administration of medications.

Building the team
An HR plan outlining the organizational structure, staffing needs, recruitment strategies and employee policies will need to be built. Approaches to staffing will vary depending on established partnerships and affiliations.
Selecting partners
A vendor for general clinical supplies should be selected as well as a maintenance group for the facility itself. These partners ensure operations run smoothly day-to-day with limited downtime.
Financial planning
Once staffing projections are complete, a more accurate operating budget can be built outlining expected revenues and expenses and projected profitability of the center.
A surgeon must always rely on his or her own professional clinical judgment when deciding whether to use a particular product when treating a particular patient. Stryker does not dispense medical advice and recommends that surgeons be trained in the use of any particular product before using it in surgery.
The information presented is intended to demonstrate the breadth of Stryker product offerings.
