The VariAx2 Foot System delivers simplicity and adaptability with seven indication‑specific plates using a comprehensive locking and non‑locking screw system. The patented polyaxial locking technology and low-profile design were created using our SOMA® database. The adaptability design allows for modularity and variable angles, you can base screw positioning on your patient at hand, not a plate’s pre-existing design.

The VariAx 2 Foot System consists of a Calcaneus Mesh Plate, Calcaneus Standard Plate, T-Plate, L-Plate, Curved Plate, H-Plate, Rectangular Compression Plate, Broad Straight Plate, 3D Plate, Oblique Plate, Talar Neck Plate, Navicular Plate, Cuboid Plate, NCM Plate, LCL Plate, NC Plate, and TN plate. VariAx 2 Foot also offers plates for Metatarsal Fractures including a Broad Straight Plate, Slim Straight Plate, Broad Y-Plate and Slim Y-Plate that range in hole lengths from 2 hole to 7 hole.

Screws and instrumentation

The VariAx 2 Foot System features a range of low-profile plate and screw options in 2.4mm, 2.7mm and 3.5mm modules. Plates utilize SMARTLock™ variable angle locking technology which permits polyaxial screw placement. T8 and T10 locking screws may be angled +/- 15º in any direction for up to a 30º cone.*

Color coding

The VariAx 2 screws and instrument follow a standardized color-coding scheme whereby the screw color matches the corresponding instrument’s color. The drill bits, lagging drill guides and screws are also instrument coded.

Locking and unlocking screws

Locking and non-locking screws

Locking and non-locking screws are available in 2.4mm, 2.7mm and 3.5mm diameters. All holes in the locking plates provide an option for locking and non-locking screws. If a locking screw is used in a compression hole, the screw can apply compression and then lock into the plate.

 

Notice

Locking screws are laser marked with a ‘dot’ and ‘ring’ marking on the screw head to differentiate them from non-locking screws.
