Stryker’s VariAx 2 MIS Calcaneus set is indicated for calcaneus fractures. This set includes 5 low profile plating options that are non-side specific, making them interchangeable between the left and right calcanei. The set also includes dedicated preparation instrumentation and a targeting guide. Designed to be used with the VariAx 2 T10 instrumentation and screw system.

Screws and instrumentation
 
The VariAx 2 MIS Calcaneous plating system features a range of low-profile plate and screw options in 2.7mm and 3.5mm modules. Plates utilize SMARTLock variable angle locking technology which permits polyaxial screw placement. T10 locking screws may be angled+/- 15° in any direction for up to a 30° cone.

Color coding

The VariAx 2 screws and instruments follow a standardized color-coding scheme whereby the screw color matches the corresponding instrument’s color. The drill bits, lagging drill guides and screws are also color coded.

Locking and non-locking screws

Locking and non-locking screws are available in 2.7mm and 3.5mm diameters. All holes in the locking plates provide an option for locking and non-locking screws. If a locking screw is used in a compression hole, the screw can apply compression and then lock into the plate.

Locking screws are laser marked with a ‘dot’ and ‘ring’ marking on the screw head to differentiate them from non-locking screws.
