PrimoFit Flow advances urinary management performance

Built with clinician feedback to support workflow and patient comfort

Working closely with customers, we evolved our external urine management solution for the male anatomy with targeted design enhancements that support nursing workflow, patient comfort and a more dependable performance throughout care delivery. PrimoFit Flow builds on our commitment to delivering solutions that perform in the areas clinicians told us matter most: application, securement and urine diversion. “PrimoFit Flow reflects a focused response to feedback, with updates designed to make the experience easier, more intuitive and more reliable from the start,” said Troy Weatherhead, Senior Director, Global Marketing.

Improved application strengthens the experience from the start

We saw a clear opportunity to improve the application process by designing a split liner with a customizable fit to eliminate sizing charts and help clinicians place the device more efficiently and consistently. The transparent film gives clinicians a clearer view of anatomy and skin during application, which helps them assess placement with more confidence. In a clinician survey, 94% of respondents preferred the updated application experience, underscoring the value of these design changes in practice.1

Securement enhancements help the device stay in place

We also focused on securement as we updated the device. The new clear flex adhesive contours to patient anatomy, supports easier skin assessment and helps the device stay in place even when anatomy creates tension in the system. Internal comparative testing showed 2.5x better adherence to the skin compared with PrimoFit+2—a stronger performance story built on fit, visibility and confidence during wear.

  • Clear flex adhesive contours to anatomy, improving fit and securement2
  • The transparent film makes skin assessment easier
  • The 2-layer construction improves breathability over the previous 6-layer design*
  • In a clinician survey, 94% of respondents preferred the updated securement design1

Urine diversion improvements address real-world performance challenges

A targeted design upgrade addresses one of the key nurse challenges—tube twisting. The foam stabilizer supports the bottom of the device, helps prevent tube twisting and promotes continuous urine diversion. Internal comparative testing showed 2.8x better urine diversion compared with PrimoFit+*2, and additional testing showed 2.76x better urine diversion in the side-lying position*2. These updates help clinicians manage one of the most persistent real-world frustrations with greater confidence. “Our engineering team focused on solving performance challenges in a way that supports care delivery without adding complexity for clinicians,” said Jessica Leimbach, Senior Director, Research & Development.

3 targeted improvements that make a real difference

1. Application: Split liner design allows for easier application and eliminates the need for sizing charts

2. Securement: Clear flex adhesive contours to anatomy and delivered 2.5x better adherence in internal comparative testing

3. Urine diversion: The foam stabilizer helps prevent tube twisting and delivered 2.8x better urine diversion in internal comparative testing2

Survey results show a strong preference for the updated design, including application, securement and workflow fit.1

Taken together, these enhancements make PrimoFit Flow a meaningful step forward from PrimoFit+, shaped by direct clinician input and built to support everyday care more effectively.
