FDA authorizes N95 respirator decontamination by Stryker

08-Jun-2020

In support of the continued demand for PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic, Stryker has partnered closely with the FDA to receive authorization to decontaminate N95 respirators. These masks are designed to prevent exposure to pathogenic biological airborne particulates, like COVID-19, for healthcare personnel.

Hospitals will collect used N95 respirators in a designated container and the collected devices will be shipped to Stryker for vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) decontamination. Once the product has been decontaminated, the company will sell it back to healthcare facilities for additional uses.
