Break down barriers: Improve clinican access to mental health care

Clinicians deserve access to mental health care without fear of personal and professional repercussions. However, our recent research report identifies individual and system barriers that can prevent clinicians from seeking and accessing this care. By understanding these barriers, we can help remove them and improve care team safety and wellbeing.

In this Insights Huddle, report authors Stefanie Simmons, MD, and Liz Boehm, share findings from the research, which examines:

  • Structural barriers, including cost and schedule flexibility
  • Institutional barriers, including licensure and credentialing application questions
  • Cultural barriers, including privacy and internal and external bias, behaviors and attitudes

They are joined by Corey Feist, JD, MBA, to explore six solution areas to help break down these barriers and enable care team members to feel safer accessing mental health care.
