Our passionate employees are behind everything we do, including our corporate responsibility objective to create a better, healthier world. They are driven to give of their time and talents, working to improve healthcare and support communities around the world. Through Stryker's employee giving programme, employees also have a direct path to donate to nonprofits they care about and participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities that improve the lives of others.

Stryker's social impact strategy is guided by our areas of focus, enabling us to make a meaningful difference by advancing healthcare, supporting education and improving environmental health. As employees donate and volunteer on behalf of Stryker, they help amplify our efforts. Here’s how we support employees who are driven to positively impact people and our planet.

Three ways Stryker employees give back

Employees 'Impact' communities via a giving and volunteering programme

Impact, our global employee giving and volunteering platform, enables our employees to give back in their communities through the click of a button. As employees fill in their profiles, they can see customised volunteer options such as virtual, skills-based and in-person opportunities. In addition, when a disaster strikes anywhere across the globe, we can quickly assemble our employees to support relief efforts and get funds to the places that need it most through our enterprise disaster relief partner, Red Cross.

Employees also use Impact to organise group giving and volunteer events, allowing teams to strengthen their working relationships by uniting around a shared purpose of making a difference.

Employee match programme multiplies donations

Stryker amplifies the generosity of our employees with a year-round 1:1 company match, and elevated match rates for specific annual campaigns. Through Impact, employees can multiply their donations to support nonprofits they are passionate about.

Employees can put their match pounds towards any non-profit on Impact so we can make an even bigger impact together. It also allows us to raise awareness and additional funds for signature partners whose work aligns closely with our mission and social impact strategy. Our signature partners – Operation Smile, Project C.U.R.E., the American Red Cross and Dr Lorna Breen Heroes Foundation – work to advance healthcare and support disaster relief and recovery efforts in communities worldwide.

"The non-profit that I like to support is Operation Smile, an organisation that provides critically-needed surgical care in countries that don’t have access to care,” says Jessica Lee, Senior Manager, Cybersecurity. “To know that my donation will be matched by Stryker makes me proud.”

Volunteer leave of absence (LOA)

Volunteering for non-profits is an important way employees get to know and engage with one another outside of their daily work. With the volunteer leave of absence (LOA) benefit, eligible employees* can request a volunteer leave of absense (LOA) one day per year to volunteer on their own or with their teammates. LOA time is paid time off for volunteering with a qualifying organisation.

“Our employees feel a great sense of responsibility to give back in their communities,” says Anita Mehta, Director of Social Impact at Stryker. “We are excited to offer the volunteer leave of absence benefit to employees so they can continue to support charitable organisations that align with their personal passions.”

A culture that cares deeply, globally and together

From expanding access to care globally, to growing community partnerships, to multiplying our employees’ ability to give back, our employees are driven to give. Their involvement not only delivers value to the non-profits we support but helps support employee engagement and retention. Through Stryker's employee giving and volunteering programme, we are creating impact that is personal, powerful and lasting.
