In 2013, Augusta Health partnered with Stryker Performance Solutions to implement a Destination Center of Superior Performance for Total Joint Replacement. Prior to the implementation they had many pieces of a joint program in place, however, patients noted variability in their hospital experiences and staff noticed variability among surgeon protocols. Their desire was to turn their already good program into a center of excellence for joint care, with a consistent experience for patients resulting in reliable favorable outcomes. Augusta chose this partnership due to Stryker’s reputation for successfully transforming the delivery of care for joint patients.

The healthcare market for joint replacement in Maryland is intensely competitive. Mercy Medical Center is located in Baltimore, between Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland, and recognized the need to adapt their joint program to ensure a patient-centered approach that set them apart from the competition. The combined efforts of hospital leadership, orthopedic surgeons and multi-disciplinary staff led to the launch of the Joint Journey at Mercy.
Monroe Clinic is a not-for profit, single hospital health system serving the communities in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In 2013 Monroe Clinic partnered with Stryker Performance Solutions to implement a Patient Reported Outcomes program. As value-based care continues to evolve, Monroe recognized it’s not enough to just deliver the desired clinical outcome. Paradise Valley Hospital is a 291 bed acute care community hospital located in the competitive South Bay area of San Diego, California. Paradise Valley saw the opportunity to meet the needs of the South Bay community with a comprehensive spine care program. In 2013, they partnered with Stryker Performance Solutions to implement a Destination Center of Superior Performance for Spine with the goal to create a unique and exceptional spine program. Stryker worked closely with Paradise Valley to redesign their care delivery model and implement a patient- and family-centric spine program focused on healing and excellent post-operative outcomes.
CareSt. Vincent’s HealthCare is a faithbased, not-for-profit health system that has served the people of Jacksonville, Florida and the surrounding area since 1916. In 2012, St. Vincent’s HealthCare partnered with Stryker’s Performance Solutions to prepare for the CMS Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative. St. Vincent’s HealthCare chose this partnership due to previous success partnering with Stryker on physician alignment via orthopedic comanagement structures and population health initiatives through Accountable Care Organization formation and development. They felt Stryker’s team of experts, including actuaries, clinical advisors, lawyers and operations executives, would be the perfect bundled payment partner. Stryker immediately assessed the business opportunity, successfully applied for BPCI, identified areas for clinical care redesign and supported gainsharing and alignment initiatives. Throughout BPCI, Stryker has provided ongoing data analytics as well as reconciliation audit and support.
