Some diagnoses change more than a patient's life—they reshape the future of everyone who loves them. For Dr. Pamila Sachdev and her family, an unexpected loss of vision became the first chapter of a journey defined by courage, uncertainty and hope.

In October 2022, Pamila suddenly lost vision in her left eye after a fall. An MRI scan revealed a small brain tumor. While she initially began radiotherapy, her condition changed dramatically just a few months later. One morning, she woke up unable to recognize her husband—or even herself.

"When she woke up that morning, she didn't recognize who she was or who I was. She had forgotten everything," recalls her husband, Mr. Manbir Singh Sachdev. "That was the moment we knew we had to act quickly."

Further imaging revealed that the tumor had nearly doubled in size. After a comprehensive evaluation, the care team recommended surgery. The diagnosis was a large petroclival meningioma measuring approximately 5–6 cm at the base of the skull—a complex location requiring meticulous planning and precision.

Using advanced imaging and minimally invasive surgical techniques, the neurosurgical team successfully removed 99.9% of the tumor.

"The technology played a vital role in helping us navigate such a challenging case," says the treating neurosurgeon. "It enabled us to remove nearly all of the tumor while performing the procedure in a minimally invasive fashion."

The surgery marked the beginning of a long road to recovery. Nearly a month later, Pamila opened her eyes—a moment her family had been waiting for and the first step toward reclaiming her life.

Today, one year after surgery, she has returned to the everyday activities she once enjoyed. Her story is a testament to how timely intervention, advanced surgical innovation and compassionate care can help patients reclaim their lives—and how hope can endure through even life's most difficult moments.
