Supplier diversity

We believe that we have a responsibility to engage with businesses that reflect both the diversity of our employees and that of the communities in which we live and work.

As part of this belief, we are committed to partnering with and expanding opportunities for diverse suppliers within our business. We understand that diverse suppliers add value through their innovative ideas, fresh perspectives, and dedication in responding to our needs. By identifying and promoting diverse suppliers, we are able to deliver world-class products and services that enable healthcare providers to better treat their patients, ultimately aiding those patients in leading more active and satisfying lives.

Our supplier diversity team is responsible for developing strategic program initiatives, integrating requirements into our sourcing processes and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.  The following overview outlines our continuing efforts toward furthering our partnership with diverse suppliers.

Purpose

The purpose of our program is to develop and maintain a more inclusive supply base through a continuous commitment to the discovery and development of diverse suppliers within the the following socio-economic categories:

  • LGBT Business Enterprise

Small Business, including:

  • Woman-Owned
  • Small Disadvantaged

We also attend events with diverse suppliers, including:

  • Conferences
  • Roundtable discussions
  • Business opportunity fairs

Supplier registration process

If you are a diverse business and are interested in working with us, please complete your company profile in our Potential Supplier Registration Portal.

Please note that registration is not a guarantee of inclusion in subcontracting opportunities. We base inclusion in subcontracting opportunities on additional factors, including identified need, capabilities, innovation and quality system requirements.

Subcontracting process

Once a diverse supplier has been identified, we review their submitted information and evaluate whether or not they meet a current need. Fully qualified diverse suppliers are then considered during the subcontracting process. Throughout the development of any subcontracting opportunity and its award, all potential suppliers (both diverse and non-diverse) are evaluated based upon:

  • Quality
  • Cost
  • Delivery performance
  • Socio-economic classifications
  • Distance from Stryker site
  • Other factors specific to the subject matter of the opportunity
