12/17/2014 Study Published in The New England Journal of Medine finds Intra-Arterial Treatment for Clot Removal is More Effective at Treating Stroke than Standard Medical Care Study results released in The New England Journal of Medicine gave the world of stroke care more evidence that physicians are winning the battle against this debilitating disease. The trial investigators found that using intra-arterial treatment to remove a stroke-causing blood clot in a large vessel supplying blood to the brain provides better outcomes than trying to dissolve the clot using a clot-busting drug (lytic) alone. One of the devices used in the trial was Stryker's Trevo® Retriever.
11/12/2014 Stryker Spine To Launch Unique Minimally Invasive Procedural Solution At The North American Spine Society Annual Meeting Stryker Corporation's Spine Division will be launching its innovative LITe® (Less Invasive Technology) TLIF Procedural Solution at booth #1405 during the North American Spine Society's Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA from November 12 – 14. With the introduction of the LITe TLIF system, Stryker will offer one of the most comprehensive minimally invasive TLIF solutions available.  This procedural solution combines several technologies including the LITe Pedicle Based Retractor, the ES2 Percutaneous Spinal System, and the AccuLIF Expandable Lumbar Interbody Fusion Technology.  The LITe Pedicle Based Retractor allows for direct visualization and a less invasive working corridor, the ES2 System features an Integrated Blade Screw with built-in reduction and the AccuLIF technology is designed to help restore segmental lordosis and sagittal balance.    
11/12/2014 Stryker Spine To Launch Innovative Anchor-based ALIF Technology At The North American Spine Society Annual Meeting Stryker Corporation's Spine Division will be launching its innovative Anchor-based ALIF technology, Aero™-AL, at booth #1405 during the North American Spine Society's Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA from November 12 – 14. With the introduction of the Aero-AL System, Stryker Spine will offer the only in-line ALIF device that compresses across the interbody space.  Featuring patented compression technology designed to draw the vertebral bodies towards the implant to create compressive forces at the implant-to-endplate interface, Aero-AL offers a more streamlined, less disruptive approach as compared to traditional screw based ALIF technologies.  
8/1/2014 Stryker Completes Acquisition of North American Assets of Small Bone Innovations, Inc.  Stryker Corporation announced the completion of its acquisition of substantially all of the North American assets of Small Bone Innovations, Inc. ("SBi"). A separate closing will be held later this year, following receipt of applicable regulatory approvals, for the acquisition of the assets of the French and German operations, through which the international business of SBi has been conducted. SBi is a privately held business headquartered in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. SBi products are designed and promoted for upper and lower extremity small bone indications, with a focus on small joint replacement. The assets to be acquired include the Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement System (STAR Ankle). The STAR Ankle is the only PMA approved, cementless, three-piece total ankle replacement system and is the most published total ankle replacement product in the world. With the addition of the STAR Ankle to the Stryker Foot & Ankle product portfolio, Stryker comprehensively addresses the broad range of foot and ankle procedures.
7/2/2014 PRIMETIME: Prosthetic knee, hip mean a return to life as it was Ponte Vedra Beach golfer Fred Funk has been playing at the highest levels of the professional ranks since 1989, but in 2009, he feared that “basically, my career was over.” A 2008 surgery had left him with bone grinding on bone in his right knee, which also had to be drained 18 times that year. “When you’re in that much pain, it doesn’t just affect your golf game, but your whole life, too,” Funk said. “The doctors said I could wait a year or two for a knee replacement, but I’d had enough. 7/2/2014 St. Charles Hospital Adds MAKOplasty to Osteoarthritis Treatment Armory  Stryker's MAKOplasty partial knee resurfacing allows patients with cartilage breakdown in the knee to pursue fuller, more active lives. “At St. Charles Hospital, we have been performing computer-assisted knee replacement surgery for 12 years. The computer-assisted robotic partial knee replacement, or MAKOplasty, improves upon our prior technology. 6/30/2014 Stryker Announces Definitive Agreement to Acquire Assets of Small Bone Innovations, Inc. Stryker announced a definitive agreement to acquire assets of Small Bone Innovations, Inc. ("SBi") in an all cash transaction for up to $375 million. Founded in 2004, SBi is a privately held business headquartered in Morrisville, Pennsylvania with facilities in France and Germany. SBi products are designed and promoted for upper and lower extremity small bone indications, with a focus on small joint replacement. The assets to be acquired include the Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement System (STAR Ankle). The STAR Ankle, sold globally in over 40 countries, is the only PMA approved, cementless, three-piece total ankle replacement system and is the most published total ankle replacement product in the world. With the addition of the STAR Ankle to the Stryker Foot & Ankle product portfolio, Stryker comprehensively addresses the broad range of foot and ankle procedures. Additional assets include finger, wrist, and elbow products, further expanding the existing Stryker upper extremity product offerings. 2/19/2014 Stryker Announces Definitive Agreement to Acquire Pivot Medical, Inc. Stryker announced a definitive agreement to acquire Pivot Medical, Inc. (Pivot). Pivot is a privately held business selling innovative products for hip arthroscopy with operating facilities in Sunnyvale, CA. Pivot was founded in 2007 with a focus on hip arthroscopy procedures treating femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAI). Pivot has a platform of innovative instruments and implants to efficiently access and restore the mobility of the hip with minimal incisions. Hip arthroscopy is the fastest growing procedure in Sports Medicine resulting from improved procedural solutions and growing demand for less invasive solutions. Pivot's innovative products will complement Stryker's existing Sports Medicine portfolio and provide Stryker's customers with a comprehensive offering to address the challenges of Sports Medicine procedures. 1/6/2014 Stryker and NeuroLogica Partner to Provide Surgical Navigation with the BodyTom® Portable CT Scanner Stryker Corporation and NeuroLogica, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America Inc., announced an exclusive partnership agreement in which Stryker will promote and sell NeuroLogica’s BodyTom portable full body computed tomography (CT) scanner for the specialties of neurosurgery, spine surgery, orthopaedic surgery, and trauma surgery in conjunction with the Stryker NAV3i™ Surgical Navigation Platform. BodyTom is the world’s first portable, 32-slice full body CT scanner. With an 85cm gantry and 60cm field of view, BodyTom produces high quality diagnostic images throughout the hospital, including in the operating theater where it is frequently used to provide point-of-care imaging for surgical procedures. BodyTom can be combined with surgical navigation, also known as image guided surgery, to facilitate the guidance of surgical instruments relative to a patient’s anatomy, improving visualization and precision during minimally invasive surgical interventions.
