Adaptive Vertebral PEEK Spacer (AVS) PL
The AVS PL PEEK Spacer is a vertebral body replacement for use in the thoraco-lumbar spine (T1-L5) to replace a collapsed, damaged or unstable vertebral body resected or excised during total and partial vertebrectomy procedures due to tumor or trauma. The AVS PL achieves anterior decompression of the spinal cord and neural tissues and restores the height collapsed vertebral body. The surgical technique recommends using packed bone graft inside the implant to further enhance the fusion environment. The bullet-shaped nose allows easy insertion and eliminates the need for a box chisel or a broach, simplifying the surgical technique.
The AVS PL is made from PEEK material, which has a modulus of elasticity close to cancellous bone, more so than metal or carbon fiber.* A wide bone graft window allows for maximum bone graft containment and optimal implant to endplate fixation. The AVS PL is also intended for use with supplemental fixation systems that include the Stryker Spine Plate or Rod systems (XIA, Spiral Radius 90D and Trio).
Key advantages include:
- Comes in rectangular (0 degree) and wedge (4 degree) shapes (available in 11mm width)
- Hollow implant has serrations on the top and bottom for fixation, a rounded anterior nose and flat posterior edge
- Comes in two lengths, 20mm and 25mm
- Comes in a variety of heights from 9mm to 50mm
