Divergent Peg Glenoid Components

Made of UHMWPE, the Solar glenoid component addresses long-term fixation with its patented angled inferior peg design. It can resist superior forces,1 which tend to “rock out” the component as the humeral head translates through its normal range of motion. When implanted, the angled inferior peg is virtually perpendicular to these reaction forces, countering the loosening effect.

For the surgeon who prefers a keeled glenoid, this component possesses wide keel with normalizations that change shear force into compressive force into more dense bone. To avoid edge loading, all Solar glenoid components maintain a 3mm mismatch in radius of curvature between the glenoid and humeral head components.
