Stryker History
Stryker Communications was formed in 1999 to provide Stryker’s OR end users with a simpler means of integrating the various images inside the OR to other OR’s and Classrooms for improved patient care. The incorporation of video and audio routing in the OR was also part of a larger vision to improve the teaching and training efforts within academic institutions.
The original technology allowed surgical images to be transmitted from the OR to conference rooms and auditoriums to enhance the learning experience of other staff, residents and fellows with real-time OR audio, video and data information. Building on the improved optics associated with modern laparoscopic surgery, Stryker Communications made live OR broadcasts to remote locations seamless, while providing access to the OR less intrusively. Since the first integrated video router was installed in an OR setting nearly 10 years ago, Stryker Communications has brought many firsts to market: in 2003, Stryker Communications launched the first board-integrated, Medical Grade DVI router, the 4th generation router in our Switchpoint Infinity line.
Seeing the need for more comprehensive integration in the OR, Stryker Communications added the Boom and Light product line in 2004. Stryker Communications Booms, Lights and Flat Panel arms are specifically designed to accommodate the vast range of advanced imaging platforms and cabling/fiber requirements of the modern OR. Customers have continued to respond positively to greater levels of integration and control. Stryker Communications latest accomplishment is the Visum LED, the first surgical light to optimally combine low energy usage, with superior shadow resolution, maximum brightness and minimal heat production from the light. Stryker Communications is based in Flower Mound, Texas.
