John W. Brown

Mr. Brown has served as chairman of the Board since 1981. He also served as president and chief executive officer of Stryker from 1977 to 2003 and as chief executive officer from 2003 to 2004.

Mr. Brown is a director of St. Jude Medical, Inc., a medical device company; Gen-Probe, Inc., a manufacturer of nucleic tests to diagnose human diseases and screen human blood; the American Business Conference, an association of mid-size growth companies; and chairman of The Institute for Health Technology Studies.
