Whenever a student asks me “What is Stryker?” the very first word out of my mouth is “global.” I get emails from colleagues in Ireland and Switzerland, and I work with people in my own office from other countries and cultures. Seeing our stretchers used at the Olympics, or hearing stories of our CMF products helping children in third world countries — these are two examples of our global footprint and how our products reach and help people in all corners of the Earth.
Conduct phone interview with internship candidate
I like spending time talking to candidates and getting to know their stories. The fact that no day is like the one before keeps me on my toes and excited about my job. I like the independence I have to take personal ownership of my projects and tasks, and I’m excited to go to work in the morning. I enjoy working with people that have similar values and motivators as me that can push me to be the best at what I do. I believe in the company I work for, I value its mission and what is stands for, and I really enjoy what I do for a living. Not everyone finds themselves in a job that they truly love, and I feel very fortunate to be in the Stryker family. Both Stryker and I were born in Kalamazoo, and I have always been impressed with this Company’s commitment to our local and global community.

I love that my career can take me anywhere in the world within one company, following any type of career path I choose, and that my manager is supportive and encourages me to explore my options. I have had numerous conversations with my manager and people in other departments about what my next move will be, with a lot of support and encouragement all around. By simply taking on a new project or working with a new group of people, I am getting exposure and opportunity that is unparalleled.
